Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

It was so much fun having Evan with us for Christmas! Alex had a blast getting ready for Santa Claus and telling Evan all about the cool stuff they were going to get. Alex was singing the song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and when he got the the part about "you better not cry," he said, "but you can cry baby Evan. You will still get stuff!"

Our first week with Evan

It is hard to believe that tomorrow Evan will already be one week old. How time flies when you are having fun, or not getting any sleep, I am not sure which (if not both) applies! Evan is really doing well. He is eating great and sleeping just fine during the daylight hours. Alex is having so much fun with him. He is very protective and comes running every time he hears him cry. We have been spoiled to have GiGi here with us, too. I don't even want to think about her going back to Amarillo in a few days! We gave Evan a bath, and he did not care for it so much. You will notice all of the bath tub toys floating in the sink courtesy of Big Brother! Also, look at those curls...

Welcome Baby Evan!

Evan made his long anticipated arrival at 10:17 this morning! He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and is 20 inches long. I will add more commentary later, but wanted to get some pictures posted and get back to the hospital A.S.A.P because I miss him already! He is absolutely perfect! Shaylee is doing fantastic, and we have had him in the room with us since he was born, except for about an hour at the nursery for his first bath! Alex is extremely proud of his little brother, and is filling his new role beyond our already high expectations! We hope you enjoy the pictures, and thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. This day could not have gone any better!

Getting ready to be a Big Brother

It has been really fun watching Alex help us get ready for his baby brother. Each time Gary brought something down from the attic, such as a tub of baby clothes, the baby swing, the bouncers, or the baby car seat, it was like a brand new adventure for Alex.

Last Sunday, Gary brought in a box of baby toys that had been in the garage. I went through them all and was disinfecting, cleaning, etc., when Alex came in. You would have thought it was Christmas two and a half weeks early! I kept reminding him that these toys were for "little boys" and that he was going to have to help me put them in Evan's room. He told me that Evan would share them with him. I laughed thinking to myself, "we'll see how this 'sharing' thing goes when Evan is big enough to get into Alex's toys!"

Six Days and Counting...

So, it is sort of strange, after waiting and anticipating for so long, knowing that your newest miracle will be arriving within six days! If Evan Robert does not decide to come earlier, we will be getting to meet him next Thursday, December 18th.

His big brother is very excited. He has been asking us for months "how many days until baby Evan is coming." Gary or I would answer him with 60 days or 47 days or whatever the countdown number was. Alex's response was always the same, "That is too many days and a long time." Finally he asked yesterday, and I told him 7 days. He looked at me wide-eyed with the biggest smile and proclaimed, "that is not very many days!!!" It brings a smile to my heart to watch him await his baby brother with such excitement...lets just hope the excitement lasts for awhile at least!
